Public consultation

An application for an Investigative Foreshore Licence regarding our Helvick Head Offshore Wind project was submitted to the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage in December 2020. The initial phase of formal public consultation on the project occurred between 14th February 2022 and 15th March 2022. In accordance with Article 6(3) of the EU Habitats Directive and Regulation 42(1) of the European Communities (Birds and Natural Habitats) Regulations 2011, a determination has been made by the Minister following screening that an Appropriate Assessment is required. This determination is based on the location, scale, extent and duration of the proposed development, including temporary works, and has not taken account of measures intended to avoid or reduce significant effects on European sites.

Subject to this determination, a further round of public consultation on the Foreshore Licence application will take place, commencing 7th February and concluding on Wednesday 8th March 2023.

The consultation and associated information are available here.

Submissions on the application can be made in writing to: Marine Planning and Foreshore Section, Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government, Newtown Road, Wexford, Co. Wexford, Y35 AP90 or via email. The closing date for submissions is close of business (17:00) on Wednesday 8th March 2023.
